Monseh and Shay first met on MySpace and Facebook back in 2008, when Facebook was still just for college students. They became friends, and one summer while Monseh was home from college, he asked Shay to come braid his hair. But when she showed up, his hair was already braided — what a coincidence, right? He just wanted to see her!  From that day, they started hanging out and building a connection that felt easy and real.

 

After a few months, life took them in different directions. Their schedules didn’t align — Monseh had children, and Shay didn’t — so they decided to part ways.

 

Fast forward to 2012 — fate stepped in again. They reconnected on Facebook when Shay came across Monseh’s profile and saw a photo of his beautiful children. She left a comment, and Monseh immediately sent her a message. From that day forward, they found their way back to each other and never let go.

 

That Christmas, they hosted their first holiday party with both of their families. During the celebration, Shay’s father pulled her aside and said, “In the first six minutes of meeting him, I like him for you.” From that moment, they both knew — this was it. 

 

In 2016, Monseh and Shay decided to tie the knot and make their family official. They packed up, moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, and began their married life and new adventure together.

 

Now, they share a beautiful blended family of five amazing children. Life brought them together twice to remind them that what’s meant for you will always find you. Through ups and downs, moves and milestones, they’ve built something real — something unbreakable.

 

Ten years later, their story continues — stronger than ever. Who would’ve thought a MySpace message and a fake “braid appointment” would turn into a lifetime? From inbox messages to “I do,” and now to forever — their love story just keeps getting better.
